Urban Song as an Object of Folklore Research in Russia

The review article examines the research of urban song, shows the main directions of research on this phenomenon of folklore – the study of individual texts and traditions, contexts of existence, the history of folklore studies and some others. The main research prospects are mentioned: quantitative analysis, electronic archives, folklore indexes.
